PUR in 100 g foil packs: less waste for small binders

Cattie PUR in 100 g foil packs, with a sample matched to tabletop and single-clamp perfect binders.

If you run a tabletop or single-clamp binder, you know the problems. Short runs can leave you with more glue than the job needs. Glue strings off the spine when the pot is too hot or too cold. And coated or heavy stock won't hold a cover. Cattie's PUR in 100 g foil packs fixes both: a stronger bond, and no half-used 1 kg bag drying out on the shelf.

  • 100 g foil packs, the Cattie form of PUR, so you open only what the run needs
  • An alternative to 1 kg bags and 2 kg bars or candles
  • Lay-flat books with stronger page pull than standard EVA
  • Bonds coated, UV-coated and foil stocks
  • Resists heat, cold and most inks
  • Competitive pricing: request a quote
  • A real person matches the glue to your machine: 800-249-0337

How we help a small bindery

1. Tell us your setup

Binder model, stock, spine thickness and what's going wrong.

2. Get a matched sample

We pick a PUR grade for your machine and send 100 g foil-pack samples.

3. Run it and call us

Our adhesive specialists help you dial in temperature, cure and purge.

Why a 100 g foil pack instead of a 1 kg bag

PUR glue for bookbinding is reactive. It starts curing with moisture in the air, which is what gives it a tough, flexible bond. It's also why an opened 1 kg bag or 2 kg bar doesn't wait for your next job. A small shop running a few short runs a week can end up throwing out glue it paid for.

Cattie's 100 g foil pack is built around the way small binderies actually work. Each pack stays sealed until you load it, so the rest of your supply stays fresh. You plan glue by the run, not by the bag. And when the job is done, you purge and shut down clean with PUR-Purge-1000 purge compound or 9006 PUR purge flake.

Where PUR earns its keep

  • Photobooks, manuals and cookbooks that need to open flat and stay together
  • Coated, UV-coated and foil stocks that standard EVA struggles to hold
  • Books that travel in hot cars or cold warehouses. PUR resists about −40°F to +300°F
  • Heavy page counts, where page pull matters more than glue cost

Getting stringing, smoking or covers that pop off? Our guide on how to solve bookbinding problems walks through the usual causes, and our bookbinding adhesives page covers spine, side-seam, padding and fugitive glues.

Will it work in my binder?

The foil pack is for tabletop binders and single-clamp desktop binders that are set up to run PUR. A binder that only runs EVA in an open glue pot isn't a match. Tell us your binder model, the stock, the spine thickness and how many books you run in a week. Our chemical engineers and adhesive specialists will match the grade and answer questions on temperature, cure and purging.
