MSI is 1,000 square inches. The chart in the original PDF lists cost per MSI from $1.25 to $2.75 per pound, at 0.4-1.5 mil (about 12-45 g/m2, or 7.5-28.1 lb/ream).
Worked example from the chart: at $1.25/lb and 0.4 mil (12 g/m2, 7.5 lb/ream), cost is $0.0213/MSI. At 1.0 mil (30 g/m2, 18.8 lb/ream) it is $0.0533/MSI. At 1.5 mil it is $0.0800/MSI.
For price per ream, multiply price per MSI by 432. Same example: 7.5 lb/ream at $1.25/lb is about $9.20/ream (0.0213 x 432).

Coat-weight columns step 0.1 mil (about 3 g/m2). Compare two hot melts on the same mil and the same $/lb column, not on list price alone. A cheaper pound at a heavier coat can cost more per MSI. See also the hot-melt cost calculator.
