Understanding the reason why there are inconsistancies in measurement of coefficient of friction

Coefficient of friction (COF) on PE sealants moves after lamination. Slip scalping and slip transfer are the usual reasons. Call 800-249-0337.

Why the number will not sit still

Blown-film converters want a stable coefficient of friction on polyethylene sealants. That number often changes from run to run, and it keeps moving as the wound roll ages, especially after lamination.

Flexible packaging has lived with this for years. Two post-lamination problems show up most: slip scalping and slip transfer. Both show up on medium-slip and high-slip PE sealants.
