How to measure hot tack of an EVA hot-melt coating using a modified spring test

Two spring methods: A picks a heat-seal window on low-to-medium hot tack; B profiles extrusion-grade lid stock in grams vs temperature. Call 800-249-0337.

Hot tack is the resistance of a heat seal to a force applied right after the jaws open, before the seal cools. Form-fill needs it. A calibrated spring can apply that force. Two procedures: A for low-to-medium hot tack (pick a seal window); B for high-performance extrusion-grade lid stock (max grams, then plot hot tack vs seal temperature).
