Edgebanding Adhesives
Tight glue line at line speed — PVC, veneer, solid wood, melamine, primed HPL. Unfilled EVA and APAO hot melts, and 8600 PUR hot melt. Tell us the edge and the feed rate.
Edgebanding hot melts for furniture and wood-based panels. Unfilled EVA grades for high heat resistance and a wide processing window. Bonds PVC, veneer, solid wood, melamine, primed HPL, and thick solid-wood edges. Custom grades for fast set or longer open time. For heat and moisture resistance after cure, use 8600 PUR hot melt.
Stock grades
- 7-406 — unfilled low-viscosity EVA; lower temperature; longer set for contour banding
- 7-416HV — fast-setting EVA; core fabrication and cove stick; general assembly
- 7-422 — short open time EVA (also listed for packaging board)
- 7-430 — economical fast-setting EVA; high speed; resists pot discoloration
- 7-470 — high heat-resistant APAO; HPL and solid woods without priming
- 7-480 / 7-480C — medium-setting EVA, reduced filler; C is cartridge
- 7-482 / 7-482C — similar medium-setting EVA; C is cartridge
- 7-495C — unfilled fast-setting EVA; tight glue line; PVC, veneer, solid wood, melamine, primed HPL
- 7-496C — opaque unfilled EVA for light-colored substrates
- 7-497 / 7-498 — unfilled fast-setting EVA; primed PVC, veneer, HPL, melamine paper, thick solid wood
PUR hot melt for edgebanding: 8600
Our PUR hot melt for edgebanding is 8600. It is the fast tack grade in our stock PUR table. PUR is a reactive, moisture-curing hot melt. It gives green strength in minutes. Then it cross-links with moisture to a thermoset. After cure, the glue line does not remelt, and it resists heat and moisture better than EVA.
- 8600 — fast tack PUR hot melt; ~4000 cps at 250°F; ~4 min open; also listed for cabinets, steel, woods, and EPS
Cure time and full specs are in the stock PUR table. PUR needs a sealed or moisture-protected melt system. Purge or clean the system before the PUR cures in the tank. PUR-Purge-1000 purge compound is also a stock item. Read how to apply, handle, clean up and store reactive hot melt adhesive.

PUR vs EVA for edgebanding
| Point | EVA | PUR (8600) |
|---|---|---|
| Chemistry | Non-reactive. Sets as it cools. | Reactive. Sets as it cools, then moisture-cures. |
| Remelt | Remeltable. | Not remeltable after cure. |
| Heat and moisture | Unfilled grades for high heat resistance. | Better heat and moisture resistance than EVA after cure. |
| Melt system | Simpler to run. | Needs a sealed or moisture-protected melt system. Purge or clean up before it cures in the tank. |
| Cost | Lower cost. | Costs more than EVA. |
| Stock grades | See the stock grades above. | 8600 |
- Choose PUR (8600) when the edge must resist heat and moisture after cure, and your bander has a sealed or moisture-protected melt system.
- Choose EVA when a remeltable glue line is enough and you want a simpler, lower-cost line.
- Choose APAO (7-470) for high heat resistance on HPL and solid woods without priming.
